Caring for Crepe, Linen and Chiffon

Most abayas are made to be washed at home. The fabric decides how.

Crepe

Wash on a cool, gentle cycle inside out, and hang it to dry on a wide hanger. Crepe drops its creases as it dries.

Linen

Linen softens with every wash. Dry it in the shade so the colour stays, and steam it while it is still a little damp.

Chiffon and embroidery

Hand wash in cool water with a mild soap and never wring. Dry flat on a towel, and keep embroidered pieces in a cotton bag so the thread does not catch.

• Steam instead of ironing whenever you can.
• Store abayas on wide hangers, never folded for long.
• Keep velvet away from heat: it marks easily.
